U.S. Department of Labor Encourages Employers To Mark National
Safe + Sound Week, Aug. 10-16, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of
Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) encourages
America’s workplaces to commit to workplace safety and health by
participating in Safe + Sound Week, Aug. 10-16, 2020.

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event
that recognizes the successes of workplace safety and health programs and
offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe.

In 2019, more than 3,300 businesses
helped raise awareness about workers’ safety and health.  Successful
safety and health programs can identify and manage workplace hazards before
they cause injury or illness.

Participating in Safe + Sound Week is
simple. Organizations of any size or in any industry looking for an
opportunity to show their commitment to safety can participate. Start by
visiting www.osha.gov/safeandsoundweek for more
information, resources, and tools to help plan and promote safety events.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health
Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful
workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to help ensure these
conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing
standards, and providing training, education and assistance. For more
information, visit www.osha.gov.

The mission of the Department of Labor
is to foster, promote and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job
seekers and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions;
advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related
benefits and rights.
